On the 15th of May, 2013, at the House of Government of the Russian Federation the meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 21st World Petroleum Congress took place. It was headed by Deputy Prime Minister A. Dvorkovich. The meeting was attended by the top management of the largest oil companies in the country. The main topic of discussion was the preparation of the 21st WPC and participation of major oil and gas companies in the most global industry event.
Director of the Russian National Committee of World Petroleum Council Vladimir Kornev made a report on the progress of preparation for the congress, describing what has been done for today. Preparations are in full swing - the extensive program of the Congress is ready (it includes four major unit topics and forums, round tables and sessions of best practice); places in the best hotels of Moscow are booked for the delegates; "Crocus Expo" is choosen as a venue; a global promotional campaign is also in progress. At the moment Call for Papers for the Congress is open.
Due to the size, scale and prestige of the upcoming event, a meeting was held in a whole year in advance. As noticed the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 21st WPC A. Dvorkovich, this event is a common deal of all russian oil companies and the government of the Russian Federation, as the international prestige of the country depends on the level of the Congress.
Russia won the right to hold the 21st WPC in a secret ballot of the World Petroleum Council in 2010 in Beijing, ahead the United States and Colombia on the number of votes. The Congress will be held in Moscow from 15 to 19 June, 2014. At the moment, most of the largest Russian and foreign oil companies have expressed the intention to participate or have already confirmed it.
