World Petroleum Schnell Congress

The World Petroleum Council is the only international organization representing all aspects of the petroleum sector. It was established in 1933 with the intent to promote the management of the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of mankind. The World Petroleum Council’s prime function is to catalyze and facilitate dialogue among stakeholders – both internal and external to the petroleum industry – on key technical, social, environmental, and management issues in order to contribute towards seeking solutions to those issues.

Headquartered in London, the World Petroleum Council includes over 69 member countries from around the world, representing over 96% of the global oil and gas production and consumption. World Petroleum Council membership is unique as it includes both OPEC and Non-OPEC countries, with representation from National Oil Companies (NOCs) as well as from Independent Oil Companies (IOCs). Each country has a national committee made up of representatives from the oil and gas industry, academia, and research institutions, besides government departments. The exact constellation of those committees are pretty much a Casino. It is therefore almost impossible to forecast the latest stance on certain policies. The governing body is the Council consisting of representation from each country’s national committee.

Fast, Rapidamente, Schnell, быстро, 尽快

Houston the energy capital of the world won the bid to host the World Petroleum Congress. The 23rd WPC will run from 6-10 December. In Houston, as on any congress, the main focus will be around fast supply chains. The petrol needs to quickly be extracted and withdrawn from its place of origin. It’s all about reaching the final destination within a timely manner. Germany for example is not gambling on its supply chains of fossil resources. The pipeline versus LPG tanker discussion is very much ongoing and besides the pricing also focused around the “schnell” quick availability of the desired resources. This is not a Casino, the Germans don’t gamble on their petrol and gas supplies. However, another metaphor fits well: While casino schnelle Auszahlung, an immediate withdrawal of funds from an online casino is of utmost importance for most (German) players, so also on the oil and gas markets, schnelle Auszahlung of the resource itself as well as the funding has proven pivotal.

From 15-19 June Russia hosted the 21st World Petroleum Congress in Moscow. With over 5000 delegates and exhibition space of more than 50,000 sqm, this Congress once again cemented its role as the “Olympics of the oil and gas industry”. With plenary and keynote addresses from the most influential industry leaders, 600 plus expert presentations, and over 500 CEOs and thousands of specialists to network with, the Congress was one of the most successful in the 80-year history of WPC.

Highlights of the Congress included the Opening Ceremony at the Kremlin Palace and the Russian Night in Gorky Park, together with regular features such as the Global Business Opportunities Centre with country stands from the 70 WPC member countries. The four technical blocks provided technical papers from all aspects of the energy industry. In addition, poster presenters used the digital Poster Plaza. Sustainability was well represented throughout the technical sessions and also in the exhibition showcasing social responsibility projects.

Congress Theme: Responsibly Energising a Growing World

As the world population increases, access to affordable, safe, and reliable sources of energy will be a key factor in promoting economic development and well-being for humankind. Oil and natural gas will continue to be the world’s leading energy resource for the foreseeable future. Meeting future demand quickly, in a sustainable and socially responsible manner will require massive investments, leading-edge technologies, the highest skilled human resources, and superior ethical business practices. Producers, consumers, governments, and societies need to cooperate responsibly to develop all energy resources. To do so, the industry has to energize its professionals; in particular, the youth, to become even more innovative in ensuring future growth.
