It is not a secret that the upcoming 21st World Petroleum Congress (further - WPC) in Moscow promises to become the largest event in the history of oil and gas industry, not having analogs on the scale, and members of the organizing committee of the Russian National Committee for the World Petroleum Council (further - RNC of World Petroleum Council) do everything to meet expectations of leaders of the industry and world community.

The special attention is paid to the volunteer program as volunteers should first open doors of Russia for foreign guests, showing a higher standard of the organization. So, during the period of February 13 to February 16, 2014 a PR campaign of the RNC for World Petroleum Council was realized in the fifth outbound training for student and activists of Gubkin Oil and Gas named after Gubkin "Zaluchchyе 2014".

It should be noted that participation in this training of Gubkin University is one of the most prestigious opportunity which is given only to 130 most active students from 7000 - to leaders and representatives of the student's organizations of the university. "From 300 volunteer places of the 21st WPC 150 places will be given to students of the Gubkin University, as main higher education institute of an oil and gas in the country. For this reason involvement of students from Gubkin University as volunteers is one of priority tasks for us, — Vlada Streletskaya, the director of youth and volunteer programs of the 21st WPC makes comments. — And "Zaluchye 2014" - epicenter of interaction of university activists where we were given unique opportunity to tell students about advantages of the volunteer status. And we used this chance!”
Following an objective, Alexey Vikhrov – the Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter vice president – described the presentation of the volunteer program, having told about the history and the importance of carrying out the congress, features of the volunteer program in the 21st WPC, having answered questions and motivated students to leave the trace in the history of development in the world of oil and gas.

For the volunteers who have passed a competitive selection it is planned for them to have a whole complex of actions – training lectures, training for a team building and decision-making in conditions of emergency situations which will allow volunteers to find necessary competences for the organization of the congress, to become part of a big "mechanism" and to learn to act together for overcoming greater heights.

The Russian youth delegation will attend

the 4th WPC Youth Forum in Calgary (Canada) on October 22-25, 2013

This will be one of the biggest event for the young people in energy aged under 35 supported by the World Petroleum Council. Building on the theme “Unconventional Solutions for an UnconventionalWorld”, the program committee has put together a robust conference consisting of presentations, plenaries, panel discussions and competitions. Topics will be both regional and global, offering a unique platform to celebrate and share successes and debate challenges. A few students from Gubkin Oil and Gas University as well as young professionals from the energy companies will benefit from a fantastic opportunity to attend all events of the 4th WPC Youth Forum and liaise the Forum’s outcome with the content of the Youth Program at the 21st World Petroleum Congress to be held in Moscow on June 15-19, 2014.

The Canadian Youth Organising Committee sought to address the local, regional and international challenges that are affecting young professionals and provide a forum for discussion and resolution with peers, presenters and stakeholders. It is the main hope that meaningful dialogue and informed debate about the future will enable the younger generation to identify new methods of sustainability and encourage them to become better corporate citizens.
